Covenant Village of the Great Lakes
Covenant Village of the Great Lakes, as part of its Healthy U series, is hosting a group of pharmacology students from Ferris State University for a presentation entitled: New Shingles Vaccine and What You Need to Know. Shingles is caused by the same virus that causes chickenpox and can create a painful rash. Anyone who has recovered from chickenpox is at risk. The students will address the exact cause of shingles, who’s at risk and go into depth about Shingrix, the new shingles vaccine. They’ll compare this new vaccine to the old vaccines and discuss how vaccine-related adverse effects can be managed. Coffee and fellowship begins at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, January 21, with the presentation beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Covenant Village of the Great Lakes, 2510 Lake Michigan Drive NW in Grand Rapids.
